Details regarding the Smith Smackeroo Fundraiser are below:
1) Smith Smackeroos cash raffle is our number one fundraiser. Students and parents who sold Smith Smackeroo tickets over the last three years raised over $17,000 for CP Smith school!
2) Smith Smackeroos success relies on student and family participation.
-If every student in school sold just one ticket we would earn $2800!
-If every student sold 3 tickets we would earn $8400!
-If 1/2 of the kids (136 kids) sell $100 worth of tickets we would achieve $13,600!
3) All of the classes at Smith were given a presentation on Smith Smackeroos this week. The following points were stressed in the presentation:
A) Students and families should choose for themselves whether they would like to participate in this fundraiser. If your family chooses not to participate, please return the ticket packet to us so that we can use the tickets elsewhere.
B) Students should approach only people that they know very well and can trust (parents, extended family, close neighbors, and close friends). Parents may sell tickets at work or to friends, just make sure a student name is written in the “seller” line on the ticket stub.
C) Collecting money on behalf of the school is a big responsibility. Tickets stubs and money must be returned to classroom teachers by March 30 but may be turned in sooner.
D) Students were discouraged from buying the tickets themselves as their incomes are limited and the odds are not in their favor. I explained that most adults clearly understand these odds and will consider ticket purchases a donation. This is not a hard and fast rule, but just letting you know, students have been advised.
Please return all unused tickets to your child’s teacher. Sold tickets and money should be turned in by April 2.
It’s almost Smackeroo season again!! Tickets are to be distributed to students next week!
This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and generally brings in about $6000 to CP Smith PTO!
I NEED SOME HELP FROM YOU!!
I need a crew of people to help me assemble the envelopes. It’s very easy manual labor which we can do really quickly with extra hands.
Please come to my house at 100 Dodds Ct. tomorrow evening (Thursday 3/8) from 7-8PM. (Even if tomorrow is a snow day!)
We’ll have it done in no time!!
By the way, the school district calendar has us listed for a PTO meeting tomorrow night but that is a seriously flawed document! We always have PTO meetings on the second Monday of the month so, next Monday 3/12 is the day.
And, also, by the way, March is the ideal month to try something new (I made that up) so if you have never been to a PTO meeting before, obviously, you should come!
Fondly, Karen Ruben, Smith Smackeroo fundraiser chairperson
No School Monday, Updated Meal Distribution Information
There will be no school on Monday, September 18 due to the teachers’ strike.
