Hi Smith families,

Please join us Monday evening, September 12, from 5:30 to 7:00 in the school library for our first PTO meeting of the school year.  Free childcare will be provided in the gym and pizza will be available to both parents and students.

The PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization) is designed to support the school in its efforts to provide a great education to all of our students.  To that end we work to build community, support teachers, and provide funding to enhance what the district can provide.

We are responsible for many things at CP Smith including:

-the Welcome Back Picnic

-the Four Winds Science Program

-the Scholastic Book Fair

-Math Night

-the International Dinner

-Montshire Museum visits

-author visits

-and much more.

Please come Monday evening and let us know what is important to your family.  We look forward to seeing you!

Pizza and childcare will be provided.

See you there!

PTO Meeting Tonight!

5:30, in the Library, pizza and childcare provided.

And hey, comb your hair.  We’re going to take our yearbook picture tonight and we want to look gooooood!

PTO Meeting Monday 2/8!!

You are not going to want to miss this!!  Mostly, because the agenda is not super loaded and we might even have time to relax and, you know, just be friends having pizza together in peace while our kids are being supervised in a room down the hall.  Appealing, right??  I will bring a salad to go with the pizza.

Some items we do have to touch on include the upcoming Spring Fling Dance (3/18), the revamped and exciting CP Smith Science and Engineering Fair (3/10), and the much anticipated yearbook.

Below you will find the minutes from January’s meeting.  Enjoy!

C.P. Smith PTO minutes Monday 1-11-16

1.     Treasurer Abbey Duke reviewed the income statement.  The reporting period 9-1-2015 to 1-11-2016.  The total revenue to date is $9,239.89

2.  Movie night is scheduled for January 22nd.  Parents will be viewing a documentary about several immigrant families now living in Burlington.  WE are hoping to get the director to visit and possibly some of the new American families.

The kids will be viewing a film in the gym.  Popcorn will be provided and you are welcome to bring your own snacks, blankets, chairs etc.

3.  The International Dinner is scheduled for January 28.  We will not be providing pizzas this year and are also hoping to get the kids involved in the serving, seating, bussing tasks.  We will need volunteers to help serve food and greet families.

4.  The Yearbook is still for sale for $10 through January.  You can find the link to upload pictures for the yearbook on the facebook page and soon on the blog.

5.  Science Fair is scheduled for 3/10/2016.  We are hoping to also have a Makers fair.  Miss Vermont might present at the fair and we will possibly schedule afterschool programs for kids interested in participating.

6.  The play “Aladdin” is in full swing now.  70 students are involved and a chorus is being organized for the younger children.  Performances are scheduled Thursday Feb. 11th (school performance), Feb. 12th at 7pm and Feb. 13th Saturday 4pm.  All performances will be at Hunt middle school.

7.   Smith Smackeroos Spring fundraiser will begin ticket sales March 2nd and awards will begin to be distributed March 21st.

8.  Vermont Coffee Fundraiser, headed by Sue Chayer.  This is an ongoing program that allows CP Smith coffee drinkers to purchase VT coffee through the PTO at the regular price (same as grocery store) but we get a cut of the action.  Beat that, right?

    9.   Spring Fling (family fun night) to be held March 18.  Brought to us by the same powerhouse committee that put on the Halloween Dance.

   10.  Lake monsters game.  WE have a date of  Thursday June 30th.   Tickets will be transferrable to another date.  You will be able to buy the tickets online up to 24 hours prior to game day  and can pick them up at will-call.
